Construction Controller

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

CDG Maui Inc. is looking for a responsible and experienced Controller who can efficiently support the CFO in the financial management of a multi-company organization. The candidate will be responsible for the accounts receivable, generation of financial reports, budgeting and forecasting, asset and liability management, securing financing and providing job information to project management. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Accounting with experience in the Construction Industry, Cost Accounting & Real Estate Transactions. The Controller must be highly organized, team oriented and able to communicate effectively with the team members, clients, owners and partners.

Duties & Responsibilities:

FINANCIAL REPORTING

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, such as balance sheets and income statements.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Identify and communicate economic trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
  • Accurately and timely prepare and file monthly, quarterly & annual GE Tax Returns and TA Tax returns.
  • Prepare WIP reports and projections for jobs in progress

ACCOUNTING

  • Accounts Receivable – prepare and issue invoices accurately and timely (including payment applications) to customers and collect customer payments.
  • Assist CFO with managing all aspects of the organization’s accounting processes, including payroll, budgeting, forecasting, accurate job costing & construction project accounting.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • Insurance Applications, Audits & Renewals
  • Entity Setup and Structures
  • Obtaining Financing
  • Assist in evaluating the financial impact of business initiatives and contribute to the long-term financial planning and growth strategies.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Controller Key Competencies:

  • Managing processes, develop standards and maintain internal controls
  • Financial software experience – QuickBooks, Excel with adaptability to learning new software programs
  • Strong analytical skills, decision making abilities and attention to detail
  • Project/task follow-up
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Compliance and regulatory knowledge (stay up to date to local, state and federal regulations)

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in accounting/finance
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements
  • Experience with construction accounting and/or construction software
  • CPA/CMA certification a plus
